Welcome

Welcome to short film in worship. I’ve put this blog in place not because I’m an expert on short films and worship, but because I’d like to be. It’s something I’m interested in, and I’m hoping the experts will find me.

Why use short films in worship? I just think a short film can make a point in a striking and unusual way. We’re used to using film clips, but a short film often makes the point better, because you get the beginning, middle and end all in five minutes. Because of the time constraints, shorts have to be punchy. They’re like condensed cinema, and all the more powerful for it. They’re also an unappreciated medium, and they don’t get shown very often, or they’re considered to be film student fare. Time to reclaim them.

Anyway, I’m going to post little things I find that you could show in church, films I’ve made or that I’ve seen other people using. They could be short films, music videos, animations, even youtube clips. We’ll see where it takes us.

Thanks for reading,

Jeremy
